Pastel pencils

This is a pastel pencil sketch of Nelson. It's the first time I've used pastel pencils, which were a birthday present. They are less messy than ordinary pastels but need careful sharpening.  Again I've used Steinlenn as an inspiration. He used pastels to good effect on a black cat. I'm discovering that you really have to look carefully to see the highlights. Working from photos helps. Nelson really does love to pose for the camera, which is good, because although he sleeps alot, when he is awake he's not still enough to draw!
